Dahabshill , now based in Dubai is a major remittance channel to the Horn of Africa – and across five continents. In particular it has played a key role with relief agencies distributing cash to refugees. The major relief agencies such as OXFAM say that cash transfers are a safer way to getting food through – rather than bulky items which get stolen. Dahabshill’s network of contacts has ensured a lifeline which was never there before. Mr Duale who comes from Somalia, moved to London in 1991. He has trained in the complexities of international trade and finance with a special emphasis on the design and implementation of money transfer models that suit the needs of their expanding interests overseas. Mr Duale built the Group’s European platform from scratch in 1994. With a proven ability to identify successful business ventures he assisting in the founding of a number of money transfer businesses in Somalia, Dubai, Kenya, Ethopia, Djoubti, Sudan, Yemen, UAE, Canada and Denmark. Dahabshill now has partnership agreements with Coinstar Money Transfer Ltd (formerly Travelex Money Transfer Ltd), Instant Cash and Wegagen Bank (Ethopia).
